Made Up Geisha

Just want to share a layout I made recently for Pinoy Scrapbookers's challenge called "stamp attack". I love stamps. No, I take that back. I am addicted to stamps so I could not let this challenge pass me by.

As the title says, the layout should include stamped images as embellishments. But there's a catch, you have to use at least one stamped image from a non-professional manufactured stamp! In short you have to make your own stamp image!!! This one really made me think hard. Here's what I did ...

1. I cut a piece of flowered-design thick lace and attached it to a wine cork.
   
2. To create a distance between the fabric and the cork, I used pop-up glue dot.
3. Apply ink { for this project I used Dew Drop - Brilliance in Pearl Thyme} to the fabric as usual and here it is .... a flower stamp!

It's Just a Day in My Summer Life

The thought of warm and bright summer days at the trailer park helps me survive the long and cold winter months. I do love the serenity that winter brings but I also long for the garish green grass and take pictures of my clearly defined shadow on a fresh mowed lawn. I can't wait to spend the weekend at the trailer park and enjoy the long languid days of summer ...

• wake up call by birds chirping excitedly
• warm waffle and maple syrup for breakfast on the trailer porch
• refreshing mid-morning swim on the lake
• sun bathing and reading a good book
• visiting the quaint town for a leisure lunch
• holding hands at the marina until late afternoon
• barbecue and wine for dinner
• sipping hot tea and enjoying smores with friends around the campfire
• going to bed late at night looking forward to another gentle yet vibrant summer day!

Ahh ..... pure bliss!

My Wonderland

I was sorting my stash this afternoon and found some rub-ons that I have totally forgotten. Unexpected little gifts that made me want to scrap. So I did! Here's a simple LO using rub-ons and gems....



Materials: Upsy Daisy Design {unwritten fairy tale)} patterned paper, K& Company Rub-ons and gems {que sera fera}, Deja Views Rub-ons {flurries & frost}, Fancy Pants Design {All fall tiles and tags}.

Code BLUE

I'm down with fever but I refuse to surrender the last drop of energy left in my tired voluptuous {also known as borderline fat} being! I went to work as usual but have to go home around 1PM when the fever hit shivering stage. Shucks! I hate being sick!


In between sneezing, runny nose and chugging orange juice, I worked on this LO of my 2 beloved nephews, Adriel and Adriann {my sister's boys}. They sent this picture to their favorite 'tita' {that's me} which was taken during one of their summer trips to Baguio City. Of course, the trip to the city of pines is not complete without the horse back ride at Wright Park.



I want something BLUE, so I used Fancy Pants Designs {daily grind cards} pattern paper for the background, Forever in Time alpha stickers and made my own cowboy outfit to match the boots that I have on my stash. I also stamped the bird and vines for boarders using Inkadinkado mini clear stamps.

Alone At Last

Ah, the call of the sea {or lake, since we are in Ontario} .... summer is still 5 months away but I was inspired by Neil Sedaka's song and the PinoyScrapbookers' challenge while working on this layout. I used mixed media to capture the wall of our dream seaside shack.

I had so much fun doing the butterfly embellishments with my
fresh from Walmart Martha Stewart butterfly craft punch....

I also included my current favorite birdie sticker from Basicgrey element....

Our dream shack remains a dream for now. But I can look at this LO anytime and hear the soft sound of the waves .....

Scarps and Mismatched Embellishments

Instead of throwing scrap papers from previous projects and mismatched embellishments, I put them all together on this LO and I'm quite pleased how it turned out. The smile on our faces says it all.

So many little things to make us happy. Most of them are free.

Hats Off

Reminiscing….

In 2005, my husband and I decided to celebrate New Year's Eve out of town. With a $ value in mind, I turned to god ol' Google for an overnight stay at a 3-star hotel with dinner/show. Lo and behold.... I found something like $60/person (what a steal!!!). We drove for 2 hours from our place to the countryside.

So far so good ... the hotel room was pretty, the steak dinner was sumptuous (I can still remember how tasty the Yorkshire pudding was) and the stand up comedy show was hilarious. The only thing was that, except for me and my hubby, all the people in the room were LOLOs (grand dads) and LOLAs (grand moms)!!! Yes it was a gig for 60 years and older!!!! They gave HATS for us to wear and grooved the night away to Broadway music. Oh, we had so much fun!

Ever since, it became our tradition to wear these hats on New Year's Eve and reminisce what turned out to be a beautiful mistake.

Really, Hats Off to our elders..... You ROCK!
