The Colors of Pow Wow

What a colorful weekend!

Hubby and I joined the Mississaugas of Scugog Island First Nation Pow Wow. It was our first time to witness this kind of festivity. After watching the colorful display of traditional clothes, soulful singing and dancing to drum tunes, we knew this will not be the last!

Pow wow is the First Nation's way of meeting together, to join in dancing, singing, visiting, renewing old friendships and making new ones. This event is held once a year and everyone is welcome to join the feast. For me, this is a perfect way to immerse in a culture rich in history and stories of perseverance, tragedy and survival.

Spring ..... Pass it On

What a wondrous time is spring when all the trees are budding ....

The birds begin to sing .....

The flowers start their blooming ....

That's how it is with God's love. Once you've experienced it. You want to sing, its fresh like spring. You want to pass it on ....

Through My Lens : Sunrise

PEACE is seeing the sunrise and knowing WHO to thank.

This beautiful sunrise greets us every morning just outside the doorstep of our home, the Birdsong. It is always worth waking up at the crack of dawn just to be part of this new beginning!

Through My Lens : Loose Tea Leaves

Focusing on my two favourite things .... loose tea leaves and photography!

After a stressful 2-hour drive home from downtown Toronto, there is nothing more relaxing than working on this Asian inspired set-up for a photography session. The best part is brewing these delicious loose tea leaves from Teavana after the photo shoot!

Remember, the true flavour of teas is achieved when the right water temperature and steeping time are applied.

Ahhh, truly life is full of simple pleasures!

The Naked Trees

One of my obsessions in photography is capturing the beauty of a tree's bare limbs against the dramatic colors of the sky. Unmindful of the cold and damp wind last weekend, hubby and I went to Lynde Shores Conservation area just before dusk.

And there they are - the trees in their naked glories - intricate, delicate and simply amazing!

The beauty of creation knows no boundaries!
