Project Life Tips : Creating Cards and Inserts Using PicMonkey

Now that I am officially "addicted" to Project Life, I have my share of PL cards/inserts from different designers or companies. I am not a hoarder ... yet ... because I only buy what I will use for sure. However, there are instances that I need a specific design to complete a spread but I don't have the appropriate card or insert for it. In cases like this, I find PicMonkey Photo Editor VERY useful!

It is so easy to create cards using this application and it's FREE! There are also lots of  easy to follow tutorials available in the net. All you need is your imagination! Here are some card I designed...

I make 2 different 3x4 designs in a 4x6 template. Then I print them as I print my photos and voila! Here's how the cards look on my spread ....

Have fun creating!

Project Life : Week Fourteen

Continuing with Project Life : Now on Week 14!

For this week spread, I used a couple means to write my journal. First, I made use of a blank wall space on the photo {1st photo below. When I was editing the photo, I was inspired by the glow from the lamp highlighting the blank wall so I used the space to highlight a thought.

On the second photo, I used left over strips of colored stock from a previous card project and took my forgotten old paper punch to embellish my otherwise plain journal card. Instantly, I have a matching journal cards from recycled papers!

What do you do if you have photos you want to include on your spread that are not picture perfect for some reasons? I have one here that I almost discarded - the photo has "accidental" photobombers☺☺. The easiest way to remove it is to cut the photo into a 3x4 size, but doing that will lose what I want to capture - the sweet treats I made for my friend's birthday. So instead of cutting, I edited the picture by adding the faded circle in apple green to cover the "bombers" and typed the event on it. I love how it turned out!

Have a fantastic weekend and capture those precious memories!

Project Life | Weeks Eleven and Twelve

Week Eleven

I love colors on my layouts. For this week's spread, I experimented on working with just a couple colors. I guess I like it too ....colors or not its the memories that count ©©©

Week Twelve

I got a bit crafty this week  so I took out some of my spring-themed wood stamps and embellished my otherwise plain journal card. I am also fond of using beautiful restaurant business cards as embellishments. This one (on the left)  from El Catrin is one of my favorites.

Project Life | Weeks Eight to Ten

Here are the pages of my Project Life weeks 8 to 10!

Week 8 : Left Side

Week 8 : Right Side

Some tips for page inserts and journals:

1. Cut print ads  of special events to embellish your page
2. Write messages even on the most usual "canvass" {like what I did on the flour when I was making pancakes}
3. Keep those gift cards .... a lot of them have great designs and messages you can use as inserts.

Week 9

Week 9 : Left Side

Week 9 : Right Side

Week 10

Week 10 : Left Side

Week 10 : Right Side

To embellish some inserts, I used washi tape as banners and also kept this square coaster from a recent visit at Kelseys Bar and Grill. There's a lot of free things you can get in so many places that can be used to enhance this project. I am loving this!

Project Life | Week Seven

Here's another post on my Project Life album. I am actually up to date in creating my weekly spread but I don't have the time to take photos of the layouts. Lately, I get home from work later than usual therefore the lighting in my craft studio is not ideal. To say the least, I am still having fun working on this project.

Week seven captured our Valentine's Day to Family Day weekend getaway in Ellicotteville New York.

I combined store bought journals and my own designed inserts. I worked on it digitally then print and add embellishments. And viola!

Project Life | Weeks Five and Six

Welcome to Project Life!

My Week 5 ...

The month of February started with lots of cheers shared with friends - both young and the not so young :-) . I still love mixing handmade and store-bought journal cards in my spread. I also started introducing big -sized photo (6x10) on the spread just to add another element to the project.

My Week 6 ....

Week six captured the weekend when there was nothing on our calendar - which is very rare. Our weekends are normally filled with travel plans, dinner or lunch to go to, or errands to attend to. We simply just "chill" out (literally and figuratively). We found the time to watch Frozen and fell in love with Olaf.

With Project Life, it is easy to  include  keepsakes like movie theatre tickets into the layout.

Life is beautiful specially when shared with a person that is worth melting for!
